Composting
Quite a few people in the glen were given "green cone" composters by the Highland council , some people even used them . We set up a wormery and because our cone has been untouched for a year it is full of the correct "tiger" worms (normal earthworms are not suitable). Many councils in the UK provide wormerys at reduced prices . Horse manure is a good place for finding tiger worms . Latest :- just emptied - full of worm casts and worms . Really good stuff for the garden plus a gallon of liquinure . So easy that I am getting a second bin .
Update . 4 bins now working well plus one at TouchWood , Uig
The MacCrimmon Pipers of Skye
"From a sodden hilltop in a remote corner of one of the most remote areas in western Europe the MacCrimmon pipers brought the world their enduring legacy , Piobaireachd .
The classical music of the Highland bagpipe was most likely developed by this family of musical geniuses who served the MacLeods of Dunvegan for over three hundred years in unbroken succession.
Author and historian Bruce Campbell has pulled together every strand of the MacCrimmon story - legends , warts and all - and in presenting the evidence writes a compelling account of the race of warrior pipers.
The legacy of the MacCrimmons is their music , and that will live forever "
